Be a Legend: Women Who Rock the Bus
I had this insane (in my mind) idea running around my head for about a year before I actually started talking to people out loud about it.
It was some time around the beginning for 2024 when I reached out to a friend and lead singer of a local band and said “hypothetical, if I could put together a women who rock Columbus type of show, is it something you guys would be interested in being a part of?” The answer was “Oh yeah” and I had the first band on board.
It was summer of 2024 when a conversation over dinner with another friend turned into a “yeah, you should do it” pep talk.
And so it started. I’ll spare you all the details, moments of doubt, wondering about my own sanity, and the many conversations that had me asking the universe why it hates me because the important part of this story is the show, it did happen.
March 8th, 2025, International Women’s Day, there was a hell of a show at A & R music bar featuring some of the most kick ass front women in Columbus.
It was absolutely incredible and I still can’t believe we pulled it off. It got me thinking though. There are so many unsung women in this music community and while the show was a great way to thrust the musicians into the spotlight, what about the ladies behind the scenes?
That’s where this next idea came from. Using my voice and my medium of photography, I wanted to shoutout some of the women in Columbus’ music community who bust their asses that you may have never seen or heard of, on top of some you definitely have.
I hope you join in on this new journey and the next series called Women Who Rock Columbus where I get the amazing opportunity to introduce you to some of the hardest working ladies in the 614 music scene.
Oh and if you missed the show on March 8th and would like to check out the photos, you can do so here: https://www.theparttimejournalist.com/concerts/bealegend3825
Until next time,
Peace, Love, and remember what Stevie Nicks said, “Don’t Be A Lady, Be A Legend”
